Nirmala Sitharaman was born to a middle-class family on 18 August 1959 in Madurai to Narayanan and Savitri. Nirmala’s father, Narayan Sitharaman came from Musiri, Tiruchirappalli district in Tamil Nadu and her mother, Savitri Sitharaman belongs from Thiruvenkadu, Salem district. Her father Narayanan Sitharaman worked in Indian Railways, so she spent her childhood in so many states of Tamil Nadu as her father’s job was transferable. Her mother was a housewife and a lover of books. She has the disciplinary nature of father and lover of books from her mother.
Education of Nirmala Sitharaman
Nirmala Sitharaman completed her schooling from Madras and Tiruchirappalli. She completed her graduation in BA (Economics) from Seethalakshmi Ramaswamy College, Tiruchirapalli and completed her Masters from Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi in Economics. While she was studying at Jawaharlal Nehru University, she met with her husband Parakala Prabhakar from Narsapuram. She married to Parakala in 1986 and they moved to London after marriage, they blessed with a daughter and finally she came back to India in 1991. At that time Nirmala Sitharaman was BJP supporter and on the other hand, her husband and his family were from pro-congress. Parakala Prabhakar is currently serving as Communication advisor to the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Chandrababu Naidu.
Political Career of Nirmala Sitharaman
In very stating, she has served as national spokesperson for BJP under Ravi Shanker Prasad. In 2006 she joined BJP after so many achievements in London, she served in progress inside BJP and here also she earned respect and some critical positions in the party.
In 2010, during Nitin Gadkari tenure, she was elected as a spokesperson for the party. After becoming the spokesperson of party she accepts her roles and responsibilities and she protected the party in every circumstance and appreciated by all party leaders including Narendra Modi on national media. Sitharaman came in contact with senior BJP pioneer Sushma Swaraj while filling in as an individual from the National Commission for Women (NCW) from 2003 to 2005. She was also elected as the member of Rajya Sabha from Andhra Pradesh and she also served as Rajya Sabha MP representing Karnataka.
